He’s the son of Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and certainly has no shortage of celebrity friends. So when Prince Haji Abdul Azim of Brunei threw a birthday party in London last night, the guest list read like a roster of famous faces.
Mariah Carey, Pamela Anderson and Raquel Welch were among those who helped Prince Azim mark his 30th with a lavish celebration at the world-famous Dorchester Hotel in the capital. Other well-known celebrities to make an appearance at the event included Dionne Warwick, who treated guests to a performance, Glee stars Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison and Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford. Meanwhile, Faye Dunaway, Jerry Hall and Marisa Tomei also rubbed shoulders at the birthday party.
Prince Azim is famous for his legendary celebrations, with his birthday party in 2009 dubbed the ‘Party of the Year’ after he splashed out a reported £70,000 for flowers to deck out the event. The prince is also known for his generosity, having previously presented Mariah, who flew to London especially for last night’s event, with $6million of jewels. And it was Mariah and Pamela who seemed to hold the Prince’s attention the most – Pam, handing the Brunei royal what appeared to be a birthday gift, and even standing up for what appeared to be a serenade during the celebration.
Huddled together in the centre of the room, the trio seemed to enjoy each other’s company immensely, trading laughs and swapping stories during their glitzy evening out.
Pamela, 44, chose a figure-hugging halter dress for the occasion, showcasing her ample cleavage and toned legs.
Mariah, 42, went for a clingy wet-look dress that flattered her curves and her honey-blonde locks.
Prince Azim is no stranger to mingling with the rich and famous. His extravagant party in 2009 boasted a guest list including Mariah, Faye, Janet Jackson and Sophia Loren. The Prince also struck up a friendship with British reality TV star Jade Goody, before her death in 2009. The unlikely pair became such close friends that he bestowed a string of gifts on the former reality star, including a diamond ring believed to be worth £3million.

Mariah Carey is clearly making the most of her freedom in London, partying at 2am this morning.
The ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker is in the capital for a brief visit to meet with a film producer, but she certainly made sure she enjoyed her time away from husband Nick Cannon and twins Moroccan and Monroe.
Mariah was spotted at The Dorchester hotel in central London at 2am on Tuesday morning where she enjoyed the 30th birthday party for Brunei’s Prince Azim. Other celebrities the diva partied with included Dionne Warwick, Pamela Anderson and Chase Crawford.
The diva appeared to be having the time of her life and was rarely seen away from the Prince’s side. Nice to see she still knows how to let her hair down!

It’s been quite a while since Mariah Carey has graced us with her powerhouse voice, but the star still wants to shine in the style stakes.
The 42-year-old songstress was spotted leaving her London hotel last night at 2am after attending Prince Azim of Brunei’s birthday bash wearing a floor length metallic tight fitting dress.
Mariah had been flown privately by the prince so she could be at his birthday party, so she went all out with her glam attire – and the sexy gown was sure to make the most of her every curve and live up to her standards as a high-maintenance diva.
The Hero singer teamed the futuristic frock with a pair of strappy gold sandals and wore her long blonde locks in flowing curls. That’s high maintenance for ya!
Let’s hope we have some more glam outfits to look forward to…
