In anticipation of the upcoming release of The Ballads, Mariah Carey has shot a brand new video for “Hero,” just one of the many #1 hits featured on The Ballads. The video, available exclusively at Amazon, features Mariah in the studio and some great shots of New York City. The Ballads will be released in the U.S. on January 20th and is currently available for pre-order at Amazon.com.

I think the new video is just to raise awareness of the ballads release in the USA!
I am wondering two things:
a) will there be more new vids?
b) if the USA version of the release will have new vocals?

I actually think Mariah sounds good with the resung vocals. If you consider the original to be at 100% capacity I’d say she’s around 85% capacity with the new vocals. I’m just wondering how well The Ballads will sell considering Greatest Hits and #1′s have been out for years now. First week sales estimate from me I’d say 30,000 give or take.

I would be happy with 20,000 first week sales for the states as collections don’t sell well there!
I think UK is the country where collections do the best.

Any idea if the video will be out in the UK? I think Hero 2009 is a great update of such a classic original!

I hope the video comes out in the UK too… however I have my doubts as the campaign here seems to have finished for the time being.
I am wondering if Mariah will actively promote this release in the USA, if yes how???
