Filming begins on Mariah Carey’s H.A.T.E.U video

Work began on the video for Mariah Carey’s H.A.T.E.U yesterday. The video is being directed by Brett Ratner, who revealed that H.A.T.E.U was his favourite track off “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel.”

Hopefully people will dig the song! I think H.A.T.E.U is quite unique (it isn’t sound like We Belong Together at least!) and I think the slow hypnotic beat is really really great - quite a refreshing change from the other songs out there. Let’s hope that this will be the smash hit that we’re all waiting for!

Timing is important but a good song is always appreciated Jason. To me the formula of slow song/ballad on fall & winter and upbeat songs for summer is over. Mariah herself had a monster hit with WBT in the summer of 2005!. Let’s support HateU as much as we can but to me it’s not single material…

Honestly, we have to start requesting H.A.T.E. U. at these urban and pop stations, it was the second most added song at Rhythmic this week (beating Rihanna’s new song and Lady Gaga’s new song). The time is now, radio play, video and a performance on Letterman next week and this song may hit the #1 spot. It has potential, people CAN relate to it.

you can’t compare Joe 2. With Morales she always re records her vocals. That’s a great plus. Any favourite remix? I know Dreamlover started the whole thing but one of my favourites is AYNAF, the high notes at the end are so spectacular. I also remember Fantasy as one of the best. And Junior Vasquez did a great job with Heartbreaker too!!

I repeat, she looked awesome last year and it was a pleasure seeing her in a bikini on that yacht or in the VIBE magazine spread.

I think Mariah started taking a hit career wise once she shed the girl next door image and showed more of her true self and some fans couldn’t accept that, so they abandoned her music. The sexy Mariah turned off a lot of fans but she also picked up fans too. WBT brought old fans back because it reminded them of the Mariah they once knew but I think TMB possibly sent those old fans scurrying away again.

I also saw those pictures from the set and i feel that it’s time to get dressed more covered up in video’s. We all know that Mariah likes to show off her body but someone needs to tell her it’s time

That’ll never happen because when you are an artist of her caliber you surround yourself with “YES” people much like MJ did. I don’t believe in telling a grown woman what she can/cannot wear but I do believe in being honest and real with someone telling them what is/isn’t flattering to their body at the moment.

I don’t mind having her naked in the video (hell, I love it), but LOSE THE POUNDS first!!
Plus, I don’t mix “the old Mariah” to the “new Mariah”. The “old Mariah” is gone and we’ll never have her back. My favorite Mariah is the one from the MTV Unplugged concert and Fantasy video. Although, I think that HONEY is the sexiest video of all times by ANY female artist out there! I could watch it all the time!

I agree. I was not suggesting I personally miss the “old Mariah” because I don’t. Just offering an opinion as to the clash betwen “old” and “new” when it comes to the fan base being bereft of its legions.

I agree, MC should slim down a bit since she loves showing her body. Her figure during the EMC2 era was perfect but her face then was somewhat huggard. I like her face when she’s fuller. So either way for me. But in videos wherein she shows her curves, she should slim down a bit like her prefect figure in “I’ll be Lovin U a Long Time” video.

I hate to say this but I think more often than not Mariah makes herself the butts of jokes and puts herself in the line of fire. It is time she puts on some clothes and behaves like the classy lady we all know she is.

I agree with yoyo. Even tho MC has accomplished more than MOST artists can ever dream of, she still does not get the respect that she deserves because of how she presents herself sometimes. I would love to see MC “get her grown woman on” and leave the eternally 12 thing alone. I love MC but she should realize that there is a way to be sexy yet classy without revealing everything. I loved June Ambrose and Andre Leon Talley styling MC during the EOM era. Even the magazines were commenting on how her style matured during that time. What happened MC?

Honestly speaking, I do not look forward to the video at all. I thought Brett Ratner had more sense than to get Mariah parade around in bikinis. For one, she is leaning towards the heavier side now. For another, how often does she want to show off her body? I am personally quite sick of it. It doesn’t feel like there’s gonna be any sorta storyline to the video, seeing that filming was wrapped up in ONE day at the beach. Sigh.

Thanks man! I suspect MC dropped Tally and Ambrose because she needed them to re-establish her in TEOM era and once she felt she was back on top she went right back to the old Mariah style. I think it is high time she let the classy side show on the outside and become the mature woman we all adore.
