It’s a great song, and hopefully by the video being out finally, it will get the casual Mariah fans to pay attention. She needs to make an appearance on BET 106 and Park as well. Can’t wait !!!

no, when the song is great -it don’t need no push. it just flies. nothing can stop a good single. it don’t need no video, no promo, no gimmicks…
no promo can help a song that’s “good” only to the fans.

cant wait for the video!! and dont forget to stream it over and over again on yahoo when its available!!

I slightly agree with ‘the other joe’ … Its a song that WE like b/c its MC and we appreciate her songwriting and think its a great addition to her catalogue, but, as I always do, I sneak in a new MC song into my iPOD mix when I have friends over and this is a song that I usually find people walking over to the iPOD and skipping. Mind you, the next song might not be great, but the generally public (both fans & non-fans) don’t necessarily like this song. Its not a song necessarily easy to sing to, and I always hear how the whispering and the whistles are a little overdone. I really think it would take a song like Standing O or Betcha Gone Know to get this album a bit more recognition. This is not Butterfly, Music Box, MC, Emotions, TEOM… it really is getting the recognition of CB album.
I love ya, MC, but except for the fans, this album has not and may not get that much recognition.
I like me some indie music, but I realize that sometimes the songs that I like are those that I hear hundreds of times… For example (usually MC as an example), I always hated Shake It Off but if I hear these days when I’m out I always jam to it … we like something because we hear it so much, the same way we like annoying members of our family that we constantly see & hear lolol…
I don’t think its a bad song, and perhaps a bit of repetition is what the song would need (and also, it’d be interesting to consider whether this song would have done better had another artist sung it)… all in all, I wouldn’t even consider this a released song. Only two or three US performances, no video, no airplay, no hype… who knows, maybe the single will gain it some airplay.
And guys, its not the fact that ballads aren’t doing well this year… Rihanna’s Russian Roulette song (I think that’s what its called) is a known song by almost anyone who hears radio, regardless of its chart performance. People are also anxious to have Speechless by Lady Gaga played… Beyonce’s Halo did quit well. People still want slow jams, but its not the same as in the 90s (the same way it was different in the 90s than in the 80s)… people still want either “BIG” (like Halo) or fresh sounding like Chris Brown & Jordan Sparks collab… all about the right song AND the right artist that people WANT to relate that song to… its a package (marketing baby! lol)

Actually ballads aren’t doing well this year..if you use Rihanna’s Russian Roulette as an example, it barely made it into the top 10 for one week, and this was her lead single (not to mention her album which debuted at no.5 and in its second week is at 18).. and she’s supposed to be one of the hottest acts right now..same thing with Alicia Keys’s lead single Doesn’t Mean Anything, which didn’t make it in the top 50, and her second single Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart doesn’t seem to be doing well either..and as for Beyonce’s Halo it only really made it because it was the follow-up to Single Ladies…

She needs to sing it on Regis and Kelly Thursday and then the Lopes show after that. Those two performances could send the song sky high.

I totally agree with ALT, and if i’ve said it once Ive said it 1000 times, the song is too slow and whispery for most people! The beat doesn’t really pick up to get people’s attention and her voice stays low until the end of the song. By that time, people are turned off. WBT was a success because it was sung in full voice which was refreshing to people. I remember hearing comments like “She’s back to singing again!”…. I would really like MC to understand that times have changed and u have to capture peoples attention quickly. She’s known for “The Voice” and thats what people want/expect to hear from her. Plus, whispering for most of a song makes for a boring performance and MC always struggles with whispery songs. Remember when she said that she crafted TEOM to be good songs to perform? Mine Again, Circles, Yur Girl, etc… I dunno, that’s just my opinion and Im sticking to it!

Hence Angels Cry would have probably been a better ballad to release. That’s just Mariah singing, no whispers, etc. I honestly think if that song was released right after Obsessed, it might have been a moderate hit.
Anyway, we can all second guess the decisions that have been made with Mariah’s music, but one thing is for sure, she is not going away. She will be back with a relavant sound ! That’s just the Mariah way !

let’s cros our fingers that the video worths the wait . I really don’t know what editing trciks can they use to make mariah look thinner that she actaully was when she recorded the video. For me , the song is amazing . A hard to sing song, not as hard as I Stay in Love though, so I hope that it doesn’t get the same luck.

And ENOUGH with the Angels Cry song!!! It ain’t gonna happen! And if they make the stupid mistake of releasing it, it will FLOP. Why? Because it’s a LAMB song! It’s for the lambs! Can you really see that song going up against Lady gaga or Beyonce? It would be considered dull. People don’t care about beautiful singing and lyrics. They want crap that doesn’t make sense. Sad but true.

I’d like to see MC do a big collabo with another big singer to really catch people’s attention. I’d like to see an MC & Justin Timberlake collabo. That would be hot as they both are excellent singers/songwriters. MC & Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, John Legend or even Lady Gaga would help to get people get excited again. MC and Gucci Mane does nothing for me on either song. Its time to capture their attention and get in their face with something fresh and new. I know MC has been in the game a long time but what worked 10-15 years ago might not work today. U have to stay ahead of the game. Talent wise, MC is ahead of the game but she’s lagging behind in other ways and its frusturating. If she steps outside of the slow R&B box that she’s created for herself, MC could continue to revolutionize the game like she’s done in the past. Thats just my 2 cents tho……

Well I have read the same comments on “Obsessed” when it suddenly dropped on its second week. Comments like “Mariah should leave this kind of songs to younger singers like Rihanna etc. etc. and was criticized for not “singing” just to conform with today’s music blah blah. But when “Obsessed” became hit, there we are praising the song. Now Mariah gave a song that we like, here we go again, condemning it for not being a hit. Oh God forbid!!! Fickle..

i doubt the video will help,
same with IBLULT the airplay was higher than this and even with the promo she did with the song it did not help nor did the video.
I just hope the remix LP will be handled differently.

less discuss and more voting, and it will be a hit!!!
