I’m thrilled that UOMF made number 1 at BET. Now I’m gonna vent. People obviously love the song and the video so I hope that POP takes the signal to play the damm song. I’m sorry if I sound vulgar, but if Mariah had a Penis I bet the airplay would be staggering. Singer / Songwriter / Producer ETC… and she constantly gets flack. After 20 years, I wish she would get some damm RESPECT, especially in lieu of the fact that she creates relevant music. “They can say anything they want to say — Try and bring HER down, but she won’t face the ground etc…”

Rea C and Jason,
I find that I agree with you two the most! I’m not an uber conspiracy theorist but I do think some at radio don’t spin her because they fear the all-time #1 hit record should stay as is.

Marc,
Agreed. I would never take anything away from what the Beatles accomplished, but for crying out loud, almost every song was in the key of C. You would think that America might want to give an American a shot at beating the record but I firmly believe that Sexism still exists. I only get upset because I feel at times that some stations don’t play her b/c they know the song will become an ultra hit if people hear it enough. Bottom line – UOMF is clever, witty, creative and is attached with a darn good video. It deserves a fair chance. Let the People decide!!!

P.S.
Thanks Marc

I agree Jason. Let the public decide, not DJ’s who might have an axe to grind. There is solace at least that hopefully next week MC will have her 42nd career chart entry on the Hot 100, regardless of wherever UOMF lands.

Great work everybody!
Now we have to concentrate on getting Angels Cry on that same countdown… I haven’t voted for it yet on 106 & Park, but now that UOMF is #1 I’m voting all day every day for the Angels Cry video… let’s see if the exposure helps AC blow up!
Vote Angels Cry onto the BET 106 & Park countdown!

Marc,
Good Man!!! Exactly right — Let People and fans decide as opposed to DJ’S. Lets hope that UOMF takes on the direction that Obsessed did. Some songs start slow and explode. Between the video and the lyrics, I think UOMF can be HUGE
