MARIAH Carey has quashed the hopes and dreams of thousands of male fans after saying her next lover will have to be a celebrity.

The diva said that men not in showbusiness don’t “understand” and couldn’t cope with the lifestyle and stress.

She told a magazine, “That’s a big deal for me - feeling like somebody else can’t fully understand me because they’re not in showbusiness.

“It shouldn’t matter, but it does, because the energy it takes to be ‘on’ is a lot.”

She added three other criteria to bachelors looking to win the high-pitched 37-year-old over, they must “understand” her, “take care” of her and be able to treat her like her fans do.
