Mariah Carey wins Best Supporting Actress of The Year Award
On Monday, December 28th in Capri (Naples), Singer and actress Mariah Carey will receive the premium ‘Capri Award ‘09 - Supporting Actress of the Year’ for her performance in the film, ‘Precious’ which will be shown for the first time in Italy, at the Certosa di San Giacomo.

To be fair, although Mariah’s performance was excellent, there’s no denying Mo’nique’s performance was the most powerful by far. She must be hating Mariah’s guts right now, especially that they’re both competing in the same category of supporting actress and Mariah’s performance is so far getting all the accoloades. I’m super happy for Mariah, although I would be shocked if the same thing happens at the Oscars, although I doubt it will (I’d love to be wrong though). Maybe the Golden Globes.

If this stuff continues, hopefully it will help Memoirs as well just b/c of exposure. Along with massive downloads of All I Want For Xmas Is You, hopefully we’ll get MC back in the shining light where music is concerned. Again though, I am happy that MC is getting recognition in a genra that she obviously wants to succeed in. After all, “she’s a go getter, 100 percenter” (Great Song Mariah !!! )

I think she will get a Golden Globe nod but not an Oscar nod since there is no way Mo’Nique will be ignored by AMPAS. Globes nod are announced December 15.

ok..so here’s the catch , mariah’s album is not doing well in the charts , but her ACTING via the film PRECIOUS is the BOMB..i just wish she gets the OSCAR or GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD…

IMO, The OSCARS doesnt usually favors “screaming” performance like that of Monique.Anyone can do that. They tend to favor subdued and underacting like that of Mariah’s

I mean no disrepect but you must not be a film buff or have followed the history of the Oscars because your belief is not true. If you review the 80+ years of the Oscar there a tons of nominees and winners who fall under the “screaming” category.

Like who? Excuse me you dont know whom you are talking to Sami. FYI I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for 15 years now. Go back to past winners’ acting. Think of Susan Sarandon in “Dead Man Walking”, Nicole Kidman in “The Hours”, Hilary Swank in “Million Dollar Baby” etc. etc. If you want I will name all the awardees since the OSCAR’s begun and I will tell you every scene wherein they were evaluated for awards. i.e. Halle Berry in “Monster Ball” had some “screaming” acting but she was judged by that one scene where she underacted with all the emotions coming out from her eyes and her facial expression.
Im not saying that Mariah will surely win the Oscars. If you go back to my past comment, I was merely insinuating that OSCARS prefers subdued acting, which I believe Mariah did as Mrs Weiss in Precious. Why do you think that she won 2 awards already? For example, “Breakthrough Performance” should have been given to Mo’nique because like Mariah, she is a neophyte too.
Lastly, I can name all the past winners and tell the stories of each film where they got their awards and specify which scene made them win the award. I dont need to go back to the records coz I memorize them by heart and I have them all in DVD, VHS, VCD, even Betamax in our family’s library. GOT IT???

One more thing, you really hate Mariah huh? Coz everytime that you read a positive note written about her, you always disagree and always agree with the negative ones? Oh I remember you now, you were the one who said that Mariah will not win an award ever, and that Monique will win all. Look!!She got 2 awards already. hahahaha If I were you I will never have the courage to post with my name here anymore. I would rather go hiding under my bed forever!

I saw the movie, and it’s incredible. I do think Monique deserves an Oscar nod for lead actress. I wouldn’t be surprise if Mariah gets recognition for her supporting role as well. It’s all good. Both will get the praise that they deserve !

I’m really sorry but sometimes I wish you’d stop jumping at others sometimes. I think as fans, we have the right to voice our opinions at times, even if they are deemed more negative. I think sami has always been the harshest critic of us all, but that does not mean he / she is not a Mariah fan. Everyone here loves Mariah, I would say.

However Sami, how can you be so sure that Mariah will not get a nod from the OSCARS? Ok if she will earn a nod, that’s another blow to you. What I mean is anyone of us can never end our sentences with a period. If you know what I mean.
Well I maybe sometimes jump onto others but I never use such “undecuated” words like “jerk” etc.
Regarding my past comment, I was just reacting to Sami who singled me out as not really a film buff. So why am I doomed for expressing my thoughts too?

omg ppl get over it. she is fabulous, but probably isnt ready for an oscar just yet. just because she can act, it doesnt mean us lambs should automatically shove her on the best actress podium. let her find her feet, she will make it.
