Mariah Carey’s albums get officially certified in Brazil
Wed, Apr 14, 2010
We previously reported in December 2009 that Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel had gone Gold in Brazil with sales in excess of 30,000 units.
Associação Brasileira dos Produtores de Discos, Brazil’s official record association has now updated their website & confirmed gold certifications for E=MC² & Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel:

Brazilian fans can purchase “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” from: Saraiva (Standard) | Saraiva (DigiPak) | FNAC (Standard) | FNAC (DigiPak) | UMusic Brasil

This is confusing. I thought that for international artistes to be certified Gold in Brazil, you only have to sell in excess of 20,000? Ju Miguel posted this a while back:

Because “Memoirs” and “Squared” were albums released previous to 2010, it’s only elegible for previous certifications…i think!
“Memoirs” has sold already 48,000 copies, which that would give it a Platinum award if released in 2010.
But soon “Memoirs” will recieve platinum certification because its 12,000 copies far from the previous platinum mark. And IWTKWLI hasn’t finished its run for #1 and future singles haven’t even been released…and i bet the label will still release the MusicPac version like they did with “Squared” and its like half the price…so sales should increase…and if there is a concert promotor really negotiating with her Team, and the concert really does come to life….an excess of 100,000 copies wouldn’t be hard to believe.

obsessed fan, like MCFanBR said, Memoirs was realesed in 2009 so its gold level (30,000) it is not the current gold level (20,000).

Gege, MCFanBR, Ju Miguel,
Thanks a million for enlightening me! Hahaha. I hope MOAIA will be certified platinum by the end of the year. That’ll be reason to celebrate!
