Mariah Carey’s Greatest Hits Goes Double Platinum in Australia
Wed, May 16, 2012
According to the latest Australian Recording Industry Association Accreditations, Mariah Carey’s “Greatest Hits” gets awarded the double platinum award in April 2012. This means since it’s 2001 release (peak No.47), the hits collection has shipped over 140,000 units in Australia alone.
Sales of the “Greatest Hits” have always remained constant in Australia over the years & bounced again last year after a successful rebranding of the collection as “The Essential Mariah Carey.”
You can purchase “The Essential Mariah Carey” at JB Hi-Fi in store and online for only $7.99 (with free shipping): http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/music/pop-rock/essential-the/632323

When is The Greatest Hits going to be re-certified in the US? Sighs.

The Greatest Hits hasn’t moved enough copies in the USA to be re-certified. This is the reason. One has to sell and move shipments in order for the RIAA to act AND SONY has to PAY the RIAA for the audit.

well. it has shifted over 1.2 million copies in the US. that shld give it a 2xplatinum since it is a double disc.

All double disc albums are NOT entitled to double certifications. A double disc album has to clock in at 100 minutes or more to qualify.
