“Obsessed” is now #28 on top 100 songs! and the banners have been added. we have to remember, the song wasnt supposed to be released up until this morning…and its already #28! without promotion, video, and others!! the songs climbed all the way from 1033 to 28 in its first 24 hours! “Touch My Body” took off slower than this!!

I doubt Mariah can topple the Black Eyed Peas on iTunes. They are WAY too strong for her to take on. If it doesn’t get #1 in downloads, it’s obviously not getting #1 on the Hot 100.

AustralianLamb, you are mistaken. It is #10 on Top 100 Songs not #7.
The fact is BEP are about to take over as the longest running #1 single in Billboard Hot 100 history. They are too strong right now for Mariah. She can’t get #1 on iTunes. It’s not possible.

im bummed out. i think obsessed has reached its peak on itunes. i hate to be negative but theres just no way it will hit #1 at this point . i bought it 25 times and i feel like it was all in vain. i ihope mariah can handle this emotionally.

If Chris’ previous post comparing TMB and Obsessed is correct, why is radio shunning Mariah? I think Obsessed has a similar vibe to Migrate which everybody including non-Mariah fans loved. I think radio is purposely not playing her because they are over Mariah or only playing younger artists, or maybe even both.

Well I gotta feeling had less than 50 million in it’s first week so downloads are more important at this point, once it builds popularity it will increase in airplay. With TMB, the hype of it beating elvis made news. The video for sure will create hype and downloads!

Whenever a song is released to any format it is up for grabs for all formats, especially for a bigger artist like Mariah. Pop stations have the song and releasing it later to that format will have little impact. It doesnt matter. Radio just doesn’t like it.

When a song is released to radio….it can only be played on the formats its released to!
“Obsessed” is only released to Urban, Rhythmic, and Urban AC.
its not getting released to pop until july 28th.
if a pop station plays it now….or anytime before its released to that format….its audience impressions from pop radio still dont count
which is why the label surpressed it from getting released on POP RADIO….so that it want ruin mariah’s chances
“my all” was released to itunes…and it didnt hit #1 the first week it was released
we have to remember….”Obsessed” is #4 without a video, without promotion.
so it hasnt failed…give it time

The song has already fallen to #5 on Itunes as of 8:24 PST on 07/10. What is going on? I hope this is not a sign the song is losing steam digitally as well as on radio.

If this current trend at radio continues and so far looks like downloads should be around 130,000-150,000 which means it should place in the 4-6 range on billboard.

All the lambs needs to chill! She just released this song last Monday to itunes. It’s just the first week it’s not going to be number 1. We need to keep downloading and requesting it So we the fans make this a number one record for her.The video comes out next week so downloads will probably pick up.We the fans can’t just give up we need to come together as her fans and make it number 1.So keep downloading and requesting to make it number 1! Age has nothing to do with it because when she was 38 touch my body was a number 1 hit. It’s so ironic that many critics said that this was going to be the song of the summer. I really like the song, but I don’t think those predictions are going to pan out. of course I hope so, but things are not looking so good for “Obsessed” at this point in time.

now that the sales week is slowly coming to an end early word is that Obsessed fails to make the top 10 unless a big turn around at the last minute occurs. Taylor Swift has now overtaken mimi and pushed her to #6 on itunes and on amazon it barely clings to top 20.

“Obsessed” is actually doing good on the Australian iTunes Store for a song without any promotion. Until they put the banner on iTunes, the song was at No.20.
Currently, its sitting at No.16 on the Top100 Songs and its been No.1 on the R&B/Soul Top 100 since its digital release. Lets just hope the video debut will push the song to the No.1 spot.
btw.. The radio impressions are rising. So thats a good sign.
