Newly published book Perfumes: The Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanches includes a fairly positive review of Mariah’s debut scent, M:

Mariah Carey fans have nothing to worry about: the cheap-looking butterfly bottle contains a perfectly pleasant nutty-lactonic sweet floral with the browned butter smell that nice girls have liked since Fleurs de Rocaille, but in the the modern style with lots of the cotton candy note of ethylmaltol and without the lushness of natural florals.
