Flash Back: Mariah Carey performs “Love Takes Time” Live At The Apollo (1990)

Did you know, when Mariah Carey wrote “Love Takes Time” she intended for it to be included on her 2nd album “Emotions”?
Deadlines had passed, etc.. etc… but when Columbia executives heard the track they insisted it go on the debut album, as a result, when the album “Mariah Carey” was first released, “Love Takes Time” was not listed on the cassette, vinyl or compact disc.
(On) some of the original first copies of the record, Columbia didn’t have time to print the name of the song, it was a song that actually was strong enough to eventually stop the pressing to include the track.
A small number of vinyl and CD copies (without “Love Takes Time”) printed on the sleeve are still in the public domain and have since become highly sought after collector items.

RIGHT!!
I come on here every day and see fans arguing, bickering an picking on the smallest of details…. Now most times my response is to stay quiet and enjoy the news articles to stay up to date with what’s going on in MCs world…. And then I watched this video…
I have been a Mariah fan since 1993 when I was only 10 years old and believe me for being from the uk that is quite an early age!! This video just brought back every memory and love and I have for our queen, reminding me of how natural. How talented and how beautiful she was in more importantly still is! With this in mind I ask all the lambs to watch this video for yourself and remember how muh you love MC and her talent before we snap and fight with one another…
It’s great we have a passion, so let’s channel that energy this year for MCSummer2012 and support Mariah just as people are supporting her in the Apollo that evening!!!

Totally agree with you Stevie!!! Totally loved this performance… I have a soft spot for Love Takes Time… maybe one day, I will get to see Mariah perform this again.

I don’t know, lol. Present day Mariah is a world apart from ‘this Mariah’. I mean, the circumstances are completely different now. And while I still support her, I can understand why some fans have somewhat drifted. For example, Mariah’s voice is only a quarter of its former glory and while this is something many may consider to be expected considering her age, it doesn’t make it any less upsetting. Just listen to her here! She sounds like an angel! Thankfully, she still has that beautiful tone (arguably more beautiful now – especially her lower register) and agile runs, but her belts are very… inconsistent now. Once again, I’m not saying this as a way of throwing shade at Mariah, I’m just trying to understand how others may feel.
On a lighter note, we do have five/six albums of ‘this’ voice Seven including ‘Glitter’ (I don’t know about anyone else, but I LOVED MC’s voice on that album! She sounded very Daydream, just more mature).
