Rumor: Mariah working with Walter Afanasieff again

Mariah Carey & Walter Afanasieff have not worked together for over a decade; and every couple of years there is speculation that they are going to be working together in the near future.
Yesterday, Twitter was ablaze with speculation again… as there is no official confirmation of this news, please read the below article published by Mariah Carey Archives on the latest rumor:
Yesterday, Isabella Afanasieff, daughter of Walter Afanasieff, shared a little secret on Twitter: “A little bird told me my dad’s flying to NY to work with her next month. It’s a secret though. Shhhhh. I think you can spill the news. I’m too excited. My father is finally going to be working with her again after 16 years.”
Not everyone believed her, so she said: “I heard it from my father. Sorry you don’t believe things. Who are you by the way? Maybe next time you want to accuse someone of lying, you should get your facts straight. And not accuse Walter Afanasieff’s kid. Just curious, who told you it’s not happening? Because I was with my dad and Randy Jackson when they were talking. Hopefully they can spark the flame that ignited that fire 20 years ago once again.”
When a fan asked if Isabella shouldn’t keep this a secret, she answered: “I was told it was ok by my dad. I did ask before I opened my mouth. But thanks for your concern. They start working mid July. To all the haters and non believers. Do you think it was easy growing up with a dad in the music industry? It wasn’t. I never saw him.”

Very interesting! But what’s stated by this girl isn’t entirely correct. It’s actually been ten years since they worked together, not 16. But still. Let’s watch this space!

I’m assuming you’re thinking of Lead The Way? That song was written in 1997 for the Butterfly album. This girl is correct, it’s been 15/16 years since the last time Walter Afanasieff and Mariah Carey worked together.

Yes, this girl is correct. “Lead The Way” was indeed written in 1997 but only recorded in 2000 and then released in 2001, so it is indeed right that MC & Walter have not had an actual writing session with each other in 15 years! Sorry to break the facts to Mary.

Walter most certainly did NOT co-write Through The Rain. The song is credited to Mariah and Lionel Cole. Sorry Mary, but the fact is MC and Walter last co-wrote together in 1997. You don’t seem to know Mimi’s career very well.

@ Joe. That was a little insulting. Telling Mary that she doesn’t know MC’s career very well. Were all lambs here and we all have opinions. Sure Mary made a mistake about through the rain, so what? There’s no race or contest on which lamb knows more about MC.
