Stars Connery, Anna Faris, Spike Lee and Mariah Carey set for Bahamas Film Fest

Connery, Sean Connery, will be on hand at the Bahamas Film Fest, which is getting acts like Anna Faris, Spike Lee and in general, more than its share of big talent this year.
The fest is small compared to gatherings like Cannes, AFI, Venice, Berlin, etc., but any one of them would be glad to have this line-up. Faris, though more likely to spoof James Bond than to accept a rising star award from Connery, is red-hot.
With Faris’ “The House Bunny” picking up $48 million domestic, the comic actress has made the transition from a send-up star in the “Scary Movie” franchise to what might be called more original comedies. Upcoming for her is “Observe and Report” with Seth Rogen, “Frequently Asked Questions about Time Travel,” and of course “Scary Movie 5.”
An unexpected new actress, superstar singer Mariah Carey, will bring her film “Tennessee” to the BFF. She has had some small roles in films, like playing herself in “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan,” but she is the female star in this one, a road trip drama about two brothers.
Spike Lee will close the fest with “Miracle at St. Anna” and Austin Chick’s movie “August” with Josh Hartnett and Adam Scott should be another highlight. “Rain” from Bahamian helmer Maria Govan will open the BFF.
Connery will give Laurence Fishburne a lifetime achievement prize at the event, which runs Dec. 4-11.
