Product Description:
Welcome to the Playlist series. We’ve fished through hundreds of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits, but…the life-changing songs. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artists who they are. You’ll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD, unlike the compromised sound of an MP3 file. You might also like the fact that the packages are environmentally-friendly (no plastic, 100% recycled paper). But we think the thing you’ll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn’t make it, you might wish you did. This package has been created with the environment in mind. All of the paperboard is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Of course, we would prefer that you not throw this package or CD away. We would prefer that you keep it in your collection to enjoy for many years to come! Full liner notes, photos, and more included as a PDF file on this CD. Enjoy!

On the one hand, I’m not sure Mariah agrees about putting these greatest hits out (”ballads” “very best of” etc), on the other hand, this one is quite unusual and contains many of Mariah’s favourites… “vanishing”, “babydoll”, “looking in”, “outside”…
I don’t know if she could create the “tracklist herself…
I think it’s quite original !

Quite astonishing to see a greatest hits without “hero”, “without you”, “vision of love” or “one sweet day” !
I like it like that !

very very weird yet amazing selection of songs.

Nice tracklist. This will be a fun album to add to my catalog. Bliss was a beautiful song and Melt Away and especially Breakdown could have been huge hits but she was being controlled back than. I never understood why they would only release 3 or 4 songs back in the era of Music Box, Daydream, and Butterfly. Love MC

i wonder why not even 1 “emancipation of mimi” song is here or in “the ballads”. i loved songs like “i wish you knew” or “joyride”. still love this chocie tho, quite different than usual. it wudve been nice 2 see “the roof” or “thank god i found you remix” aswell. xD

probably because by the time the third single was released she had recorded a whole new album. She was a work horse.

Tobby,
LOL. So true. She was was a work horse. It just kills me that there are so many “lost” singles so to speak. I wonder how many number 1’s she really would have had if they released about 10 to 15 additional songs that us lambs consider classics

i wonder how this will fare coming so soon after the ballads. these releases actually do more damage to her sales record than good but if it can give her a 16th top ten album so be it! it’ll probably sell 100,000 in the end.

we can tell this is another album from sony, hahahha! songs from the debut album to rainbow!

Indi,
This will not hurt MC’s sales. Record companies put these out for other artists all the time. Its probably a contractual thing that she has set up with Sony that allows them to continue putting out greatest hit mixes as they own the rights to those songs since they were recorded while she was at Sony. MC is focusing on the remix album so Im sure that she will not waste time promoting this and I don’t blame her. There’s nothing new here.
Joey,
Sony can’t release songs that they don’t own the rights to. Everything recorded after Rainbow was after MC left Sony. The only way they could include songs from her work in the 2000’s would be if they were to have a joint venture with Def Jam/Virgin to release those records together. This is highly unlikely to happen though as it probably wouldn’t be profitable to either side to do so but u never know what could happen.

Also, MC has stated in the past that she always wanted to release more singles from her earlier albums like other artists did (Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston) but the record company was always on her to record more music, make more albums. If it were up to MC, I think alot of our favorite album cuts would have been released and been big hits (Melt Away, Never Forget You, etc.) She probably would have many more No. 1’s than she has now. Oh well, we can only speculate.

On Mariah Daily, one source (AP) listed Memoirs as the 4th best Album of 2009. Wish they would get that circulated all over the place so people would smarten up and buy the album.

B Rad,
I was just curious how it would impact the Memoirs remix album if in these tough economic times people think it is too much product they are being asked to buy.
There is no reason to buy this disc unless its for collection purposes and/or you want to boost her Soundscan tally.

In a recent interview from a korean show, a fan of Mariah’s asked her if she planned to release a new album soon, and Mariah answered something like “if it is what I think it’s going to be, it’s going to be out very soon”… was she talking about this “best of” ?
or the remix album??
I’m very happy about “vanishing” being in a greatest hits, and like the selection. I would have also liked “alone in love”, “there’s got to be a way”, more songs from “emotions”. But I’m happy !
Surprised and glad to see all those “non-hits” songs!!

I like the photo cover!
Just wonder if Mariah’s pleased with this release or not…

Did you all hear there will be TWO separate Memoirs remix albums?
January 14th, 2010 at 2:21 am
Well, all of you guys were so fantastic, let us just support MC’s tracklist for this time. Actually, if you ask me, I would rather suggest that MC will release all the singles(COLLECTION OF ALL SINGLE) she had before and so for now, or else she will just release all the songs she had made and put it in a one album.
