nice video, fits the concept really well.
but its mediocre at best. nothing expectacular.
Mariah could at least move around and feel the song.

its a good video, the song could be better, its too feminine but its still fine because its gonna be used in an importante event!

“100%” truly is a fantasic inspirational song and deserves to be heard at least on Adult Contemporary radio and even considered for a Grammy, even though neither may happen.

I think its one of the best songs ever written lately. Its sad that people dont appeciate such kind of songs anymore… the video is just appropriate for its intention, it reminds me of the video of Never Too Far with that hair on one side.

I agree. I hope one of them catches fire. I just think radio is holding back on Mariah for their own selfish motives. It’s all about Lady Gaga and Ke$ha now it seems. I know newbies need their time in the spotlight but it is sad how we throw away legends. It’s always been a youth market though, moreso definitely in the last 25 years.

I am listening to “Playlist: The Very Best of Mariah Carey” and if you guys haven’t bought it, then please do. It really gives a great representation of her work from 1990-1999 and “Vanishing” remains of the most underrated songs that is a true wonder and having that song right before “Looking In” is magic. “They’ll never know the real me” basically defines Mariah to the public, music world and even some fans.

Let’s vote for Angels Cry on the BET 106 & Park countdown all weekend and Monday so that it debuts on the chart Monday or Tuesday… I think if this song gets enough exposure it will catch fire!
Also, maybe after NBC broadcasts 100% on Olympic TV tonight that song will catch fire!

While it is true that it will take a larger audience to get her
higher on the charts, we should all be diligent in requesting, downloading, and supporting her. This will at least keep the songs
on the charts longer, and give them a better chance to slowly build
interest.
I do have to say that supporting her this year has worn me out a little, but she’s my girl!
Good point about the cleavage, the big difference though is this
video was pre implants. Beyonce, Halley, and numerous others have worn dresses as much or more revealing lately, it’s just that Mariah’s girls are much…well… you know…

I always try to be optimistic. So us lambs have dowloaded UOMF but the song hasn’t had much exposure yet. Maybe this is good. It comes down to whether or not radio gives it a chance. Many songs take time to grow. Lets hope that’s the case. Obsessed took time and having seen her twice in Concert this year, I can honestly say that it seems to be a fan favorite classic already. I think the video for UOMF is great and hopefully it will create the spark needed. Interesting that 100% is getting downloads. I hope it’s released to radio. The issue I have is that Mariah has been around for 20 years. Singer / Songwriter / Producer and she still often gets no RESPECT. It urks me to no end. I know radio wants to clear the path for the likes of Lady Gaga and Keisha, but Gaga has had her moment. She’s been overplayed for a year now. Mariah made brilliant music with MOAIA. It’s not right if they don’t give the music a shot at radio. People should decide — Not DJ’s.

I have a thought…..Given the current bleak situation in album sales
in general, and economic situation, doesn’t it seem foolish to make
the video available to VEVO where it can be viewed as many times
as you want for free on Youtube?
Seems to me that should have happened much later in the game.
Mariah, and other artists believed that VEVO would give them more
control of their music, but if it boils down to people not spending
money these days, it seems you are setting yourself up for
dismal sales. Look at all the views on Youtube…Well over 2 million now just for UOMF!!

It fascinates me that UOMF has yielded 2 nillion views with so few downloads though. Does anyone know whats going on with airplay for UOMF and AC? Is POP starting to play it? And the video hit #1 on BET. You would think that radio would look at things like you tube views and video countdowns. It just shows how biased the radio industry is.

@Tobby I am lost – do you mind explaining the whole idea of a song impacting at a format? I thought the record company is supposed to send the song out to radio stations at that format and the radio stations will decide if they want to play the song, and whether listeners like the song enough to request it. Ain’t that the case?

Too some extent, I understand where you are coming from. For example, the whole eternally 12 thing; however my point is that radio should play music (in general) that’s released to them and let people decide what they like. It’s not right when good songs are released and don’t succeed b/c DJ’s don’t bother to give them a fair amount of spins. I just say that we support UOMF and AC as much as we can and I do believe that UOMF will take off quicker.

We have done everything we could, we did it with Bye-Bye, I stay in love, and IBLUL as well as the other previous singles (IWKWLI, HATE.U)
Is up to radio and other non fans to go out and support this song and download it.

I understand where many of you are coming from. The fans have given their, but Mariah songs within the last 5 years have become hits because casual and non-fans supported the tracks. The current state of MC’s fan base unfortunately isn’t enough to propel her songs to higher positions. I applaud everyone. It’s just the current phase of music but Mariah will rise again. She’s a go-getter, undoubtedly she will reach the top again!

I AGREE WITH LAMBY AND MARC.
ALSO MUCH OF THE PROBLEM IS MARIAH DOES NOT PROMOTE MUCH. SHE GOES ON A FEW TALK SHOWS AND TALKS ABOUT HOW NICK PROPOSED AND HOW THEY GOT MARRIED AND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. AND HALF THE TIME NEVER PERFORMS IN THE SHOW.
SHE NEEDS TO GET HER PROMO CAP ON, THE TOUR IS ALMOST OVER AND THE ALBUM IS BEING RELEASED IN ALMOST 4 WEEKS AND YET NOT EVEN ONE APPEARENCE OF MARIAH NOWHERE.
THIS PROJECT CAN EITHER MAKE OR BREAK MARIAH, EITHER SHE GETS OFF HER HONEYMOON PHASE AND TAKE HER CAREER SERIOUSLY LIKE WE KNOW SHE CAN OR SHE CAN JUST DO WHAT SHE AND IDJ DID WITH MEOMOIRS.

Yeah she needs IDJ to do their part. I will take a shot and predict UOMF will debut on the Hot 100 at #82, does anyone else want to guess where it will land?
I think one of the main things is that Mariah has alot of fairweather fans who only want to be associated with her when she is firing out Top 10, Top 5 and #1 hits, I mean, the tour capacity speaks for itself. During the TAOM tour she was getting over 90% capacity and the Angels Advocate tour seems to be about 75% capacity on average, granted they are smaller venues.
